In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren. This week I've gotten a bunch of fabulous books!

From Bookmooch:I'll be reading The Body Project for the Women Unbound reading challenge. It seems like an intriguing look into the past of American Girls.

From contests:

I won Eyes Like Stars as a prize for entering the Very Fairy Holiday Contest. You can read my entry here. I'll be sending this off with some other awesome stuff to my cousin tomorrow for her birthday.

These two books came as prizes from the Book Blogger Appreciation Week. The Love Revolution is currently on loan to my mother. The minute she knew I had it, she snatched it up. The Bible Salesman sounds absolutely hilarious!

For review:
I'll be reading The Snowball Effect soon as part of the One ARC Tours. I really like the cover. Nanny Returns is the sequel to The Nanny Diaries! It is SO awesome.

From the library:

I've wanted to read The Adoration of Jenna Fox and Perfect You ever since I heard of them! I read Perfect You a couple nights ago, and it was fabulous!

That's all I received this week. What do you think?

WoW: A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker

When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can’t get any worse. Then she marries her “husband”: jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona’s long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer.

Ha! Jerky jock. This one sounds like so much fun! It comes out on February 4, 2010. When you think about it, that's not too far from now! Where did 2009 go??

It's such a cute book, and I've read some really positive reviews. Can you imagine holding a grudge since the second grade? I definitely don't have that much willpower in me. You?

Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell

Molly is seventeen when her father remarries. Her new mother is vain, and her stepsister is quite the character, alluring every man she meets. She and Molly soon become good friends. Molly becomes the go-between for Cynthia and her lovers. This may cause Molly to lose both her reputation and the man she loves.

I loved Molly. She's so unpretentious, and she loves her father very much.

The plot in this book is complicated, so I had to stay focused in order to make sure I didn't miss anything. It's definitely worth it. I wasn't disappointed.

The only thing I was disappointed in with this book is that the author died before it was finished. Although we don't get the exact ending, you do get a pretty good feel of where the story was headed, so you're not left hanging.

Although North and South still remains my Gaskell favorite, this book is certainly a worthwhile read.

Merry SITSmas

"What's that?" you say? Well, for those of you who don't know SITS is an awesome blog recognition and comment support system! I've had several SITS girls stop by, like Allison from Well Read Reviews who introduced me to SITS, and all have left some really awesome comments. Soo...

MERRY SITSMAS! Here is me:

I hope you all have a completely fabulous holiday season. Mine will be a bit quiet this year. We're actually planning on going out of town for Christmas, which will be a first. Haven't quite decided where we'll be going, but we'll most likely be staying in Florida. My parents, me, and the road. Should be interesting, no?

For those of you still shopping for gifts, give a book (like The Time Traveler's Wife or Shopaholic and Baby) for the holidays. Share the love of reading!

Oh goodness, I don't know about you, but it feels like the end of the year came way too quickly for me. I started blogging in May, and I'm definitely planning on staying around for a while. I had no idea it could be so much fun!

Cheers to SITS! Hope to see all of you SITSas around again soon.

Look Right Over Here

Hi everyone! Hope you're doing well on this fine Monday morning.

I wanted to let you know that if you look on the left sidebar, I've set up a new poll for you to vote in. This one is rather simple, hardcover or paperback?
For me, I prefer hardcover because of their sturdiness, but paperbacks come cheaper which is always a big help. What say you?

Read-A-Thon Wrap Up

The Read. Read. Read-A-Thon has come to an end for me. I managed to meet my goal of reading for five hours and successfully finished The Shack. It was... Very interesting. I didn't find it fascinating, like my friend did. It definitely got better as I continued reading, though. I'm very happy that I participated in this read-a-thon! It was fun. =)

Over and out.
